Welcome Spring

Those of us that live in places that see more winter than summer always breathe a sigh of relief when the snow melts.  It's a special treat at first to walk outside without a jacket and mittens knowing I won't  freeze.  Or not wear slippers around the house and still be able to feel my toes.  Or go somewhere without warming up my car first.  Or walk into the kids' school, leaving my shoes on because I'm not tracking in mud.  The kids can go outside and play.  We start building up our depleted vitamin D levels.  We talk to our neighbor for the first time in months.  It's an exciting time, spring is.

But, my friends, winter brings some blessings that we tend to forget about.  Like the fact that everyone HAS to wear a jacket so that you don't have to see the chubby girls walking down the street in their short shorts and cropped shirts.  They must have forgotten to check the mirror before they left the house.  Or that we don't have to keep the windows open in the winter which blocks the sound of the neighbor dropping the F-bomb every 2 minutes as his cigarette smoke wafts into my living room.  And really?  I'll take the snow over the dirt that gets left behind after it melts.  I feel so dusty all the time.

But, I'm not complaining.  I do enjoy my house being 24 degrees without having to pay through the nose to heat it.  And I did miss the sun.  Soon enough the streets will be cleaned and it will be hot enough to turn on the AC and close the windows.  And I'll just accept the fact that I can't do anything about the cellulite.  Mine or others'.

  1. Haha! I know EXACTLY what you mean living in Calgary. It is so dry and dusty here this Spring but I love it anyway. I opened the windows the other night b/c it was warm in the house but nice and cool outside. I had to close them again b/c I couldn't sleep with all the noise outside...TVs, barking dogs, howling coyotes, etc.

    Happy Spring!

  2. I so understand. Between the dog whining next door, to the smoke wafting into our house with all the windows open it is a change.
The whole fat thing... lots of people wear inappropriate things fat or not...
