Still recovering.

While I may be tired from the flu that's swept through our house. I'm still so very thankful that we deal with relatively few health issues as parents. It could be so much worse.

Having said that, a little update on our last couple days?

Nate's back to his normal self, though his appetite's not quite back to normal yet. I sure missed his laugh and jokes while he wasn't feeling well. He LOVES to laugh. I did not miss the brotherly bickering however, which I'm listening to right now. And just a note: A newly potty trained kid that's still mastering #2 and diarrhea don't mix. That was gross.

Finleigh's definitely feeling better, but is still recovering. My big concern for her is dehydration as she's been 'off' since, uhm, Sunday? I spent much of yesterday pumping homemade pedialyte into her - a little bit at a time. Benefit to tube feeding? Getting fluids in even when they don't feel like it. Downside to tube feeding? I thought she was fine this morning and gave her the regular feed, which resulted in it all coming up. So, we're back to half feeds more often. We're going through 3-4 outfits a day due to diarrhea. Poor little thing. But, she is keeping things down as long as I don't over feed her or feed her too fast. So that's something.

I'm feeling off and on. Mostly on. I even walked (pretty slowly) on the treadmill this afternoon. I don't think I'll get really sick, I hope anyways.

I just got a little compliment. Our neighbor called me and asked if I would model in her Optionelle party. It's a home party clothing line. I went to one before I'd started WW. They do have a plus line, but had no plus clothes to try on, so I didn't buy anything. Couldn't fit. Now, she wants me to model. She told me that she sees me outside sweeping and stuff and since I look so good and all. I don't know if I'll be able to go, but what a nice thing to be seen that way by someone else.

  1. homemade pedialyte? really? I didn't know I could make that myself.

And I think you would make an excellent model :)

  2. I have a good Optionelle story - my friend Kim was having a party and told the consultant that she had invited me and could she please bring some plus size stuff to try on - well, the lady brought 2 ugly shirts in a 1x (I'm a 2x) so it was almost impossible to tell how the stuff was actually going to fit.

Luckily, the clothing is true to the measurements and is fabulous - I bought a few shirts and I really like them.

But I'm glad you're down to a size where you don't have to worry about stuff like that anymore - yay you!

  4. Glad to hear you have survived the sweep of illness. I could not help but notice that you mentioned one of your children is on tube feeds. My organization, the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.) is a medical specialty society that works to keep healthcare practitiioners up to date on the current standards and guidelines for nutrition support (tube feeding and parenteral nutrition). Information about A.S.P.E.N. and how we can be a resource is found on the website at www.nutritioncare.org.
