Supper Tonight

My 3 year old Nate is on a Buzz Lightyear kick right now. Infact, if you must know, he IS Buzz Lightyear. No, not Buzz. Buzz LIGHTyear.

We humor him and enjoy watching him use his imagination.

At supper tonight, I dished him up his second helping of macaroni and cheese. Then I picked up the ketchup bottle (because life apparently ends in our house when there is no ketchup) and asked him if he wanted some.

He nodded.

"Pardon me?" I asked...waiting to hear a please.

He nodded again.

"I didn't hear you," I try again unsuccessfully.

Brian tries to help. "What does Buzz Lightyear say when he wants ketchup on his macaroni?"

With a big smile on his face, Nate declares, "To infinity and beyond!!!"

Apparently, Buzz Lightyear is such a worthy hero that emulating him is worth foregoing ketchup. (Which is a big deal coming from the kid that drinks his ketchup out of the little white cups at the fast food joints.)

That or 3 years of parenting and gentle please and thank you reminders still hasn't sunk in.

Or a combination of both.

  1. That's awesome! I know just how much little boys LOVE Buzz Lightyear. We just bought it for one of my nephews, but he hasn't really gotten into that movie yet. I'm waiting for the moment when he wants to be like Buzz though!
