My newest obsession

My newest obsession this week is with filling up my freezer with meals. We have a great big deep freeze in the garage and I want it to be filled with things that I can pull out and put in the oven and then take out of the oven and put on the table for a nutritious, wholesome meal for my family. The trick is to find something that is healthy AND that everyone will eat. Which I have determined is near impossible, so I will go ahead and freeze what I want and if they don't want to eat it, then it won't be that different than if I'd made the meal that day, now will it?

It's working pretty good so far. I'd say that my freezer is probably a little more than 1/3rd full so far. Another 1/3rd for meals...I have a few more ideas yet and ingredients to do it with and then I will start on the baking. Muffins, cookies etc. Oh, and I'm baking bread now too. Yes, it's okay to gag at domesticity...I would too if it wasn't me.

The consequence to my new obsession is that I have less time for blogging. I have also let my eating slide this week (on a couple of days) and am expecting a gain this week. What the heck is with that 169??? I can't seem to get past it? Ugh. Maybe next week. Maybe.

And now, I guess I'd better get on with the day. The treadmill is calling. And I have a birthday party to take Will to this afternoon. I hate those things, but this mom is about as close to a friend as I have among the parents of Will's classmates and I suppose I should make some sort of effort, no?

  1. Hey Amanda... That sounds like a great idea. Probably prevents you from resorting to hotdogs and pizza and chicken fingers like I often do. :o) Don't worry about those few days off the program... you know exactly what to do to get back on task today. I also just had 2 days off and a ton of birthday cake, and am trying to get back on today. We can do it.

  2. get yourself back on track so that you don't have to go back to posting your food journals!!! agh.

oh and i love the idea of pre-cooking! every time i cook dried beans, i cook 2 lbs and freeze 1 lb for use on a night when i say to myself "wish i had thought to fix beans this morning". i am interested in some of these meals that you are fixing that freeze well. please consider sharing your favorites! :-)
