Out of the box

My daughter is an out of the box thinker. In fact, I'm quite positive that no one could ever accuse her of conventional thinking. Which I suppose on many occasions is a very good thing. So, I wanted to show you all some of her innovative thinking. How can I help but be proud?

We're renovating our ensuite right now. Or at least, my husband is. I'm the designer. And the process started over a year ago. But now, we're nearly there. If you look in the background you can see the tile is up. The cabinet and toilet are ready to be installed. And so is (errr... was) the hardware for the shower. We expect to see completion within the month.

Hardware for the shower? No, no, no. My daughter saw it as one of her toys.

I hope, hope, hope there are no pieces missing. Because that would really suck.

And please my friends. Could you tell me what this is?

A garbage can, you say? Yes. That's what I thought it was too. In fact, that's how we've been using it for many years. But to my daughter, one just needs to take the lid off and tip it upside down, expelling all the disgusting bathroom garbage, and it becomes a step stool. A step stool to reach the keys placed way up high beside her brothers' doors so that they can keep their things safe. Or... at least they could. But now? Well. They're not so safe.

What would one do without a bathroom garbage? I've been trying to figure out a way around this one. Not that it really matters because laundry baskets emptied of all their dirty laundry serve about the exact same purpose.

And I bet that most of you reading see this as a juice container. It's quite recognizable, even if the writing is in French. But to my out of the box daughter? It's a swimming pool for a ball. Thus, why it is cut. It was the only way I could figure out how to get the little, bouncy ball out.

This conventional woman considers this a drying rack for laundry, but Finleigh thought it could also be used as a punching bag... laundry and all. In my distress to get all the clean clothes off the ground, I didn't think to take a picture until I'd rescued all the laundry. But I really missed something by not documenting my daughter's incredible imagination.

Sometimes she even outdoes herself and finds multiple uses for one object. You see, here the chair became a ball. A throwing object, if you will. Along with the table.

But here, its a ladder. A way to boost herself up because she can't quite seem to climb up this contraption on her own. Ingenious!

And she's prolific, my friends. Not to brag, but really, how could I not brag about this? She re-imagined ALL these items in the last 24 hours. In fact, with the exception of the ball swimming pool, which was done yesterday after school, she repurposed all these items TODAY!
