Running around

Wednesday, already?

This was supposed to be a bit of a relaxing week because I put the boys in a day camp for the week. And while I've undoubtedly had more time to myself...I've also been doing a lot of running around. The camp is only about a 7 minute drive away, but I have to go there 3 times/day because Nate's only in a half day camp. I wasn't thinking about all that driving when I signed them up. Plus, a couple Dr.'s appointments on the other end of town and suddenly my day's half gone. Not that I'm complaining. We just got back from an appointment (in which my doctor was quite enthusiastic about my weight loss) and now Finn's in bed sleeping and I have nothing to do but clean until she wakes up or at 11:45am when we have to go get Nate. So, here I am at the computer. Not that my house is that bad...but it could use some work. At least my dishes are done. That's something.

It occurred to me that I should tell you how our appointment went in the big city last week. Nothing to report. "You're doing a good job. Keep it up. We'll see you in 6 months." I'm getting used to that. Monday morning we had an opthamologist appointment here in town and it was the same thing. "Her eye still drifts out, but it seems to be getting better. We'll keep an eye on it. We'll see you in 4 months or so and see if we may need to start patching." Cool. We have another specialist appointment with a different doctor in 2 weeks in the big city. It'll likely be the same thing. And still, no one can tell me what's wrong with my baby.

Incidentally, did you know that if you overfeed a tubefeeding baby or feed said baby too fast that they throw up everything you just gave them? It's true. Every once in a while it happens to us. It happened Monday night. I gave her an extra...uhm...20 mL's (that's not even an ounce) and it all came up. Poor little thing. Why did I give her extra? Well, because I'm playing around with her quantities to try to get her down to a solid 3 tubings a day instead of 4. We're getting there. She drank 8 ounces of thickened fluids yesterday orally. Yes she did! It's all very exciting. As is her (almost crawling) drag herself across the room on her elbows trick. We're getting there. Slowly but surely and this will hopefully all be a memory one day.

On the weight loss front, things are going well. I've got my AP's in for the last 3 days (12 so far) and I've been sticking to my 25 points per day. Though admittedly, I'm almost out of Flex points for the week. But that's okay, that seems to be my pattern and it works.

  1. I had no idea Finny was improving so much! That's great!... I'm sorry they never tell you any new information though... that sucks.

That is a lot of driving for your apts. How long of a drive is it? I know I hate the 3 hours to the big city... 6 hours is a long drive for a 15 minute appointment.
